MRED+U draws on the combined strengths of faculty from multiple University of Miami schools and disciplines, creating a curriculum that is unique in its breadth and depth:
School of Architecture: An international leader in urban and livable community design.
Miami Herbert Business School: Ranked #1 business school in Florida (Wall Street Journal); #5 nationally for Hispanic business leaders.
School of Law: Offers an LL.M. degree in Real Property—directly integrated into MRED+U coursework.
College of Engineering: Strong civil, architectural, and environmental engineering programs.
The program is grounded in the conviction that the built environment matters—that design, policy, and finance are inseparable in producing high-quality urban places. The School of Architecture's leadership in New Urbanism forms the philosophical backbone of the program.
The University of Miami School of Architecture was ranked #1 in the nation for the study of New Urbanism (New Urban News survey) and was awarded the John Nolen Medal for Contributions to Urbanism in Florida.
The curriculum is enriched by the University’s location in one of the world’s most dynamic real estate markets. Miami sits at the intersection of:
This makes Miami an unmatched living classroom for real estate and urban development, giving students direct access to active deals, developers, policy debates, and urban transformation in real time.
The program honors the Tony Goldman Endowed Director of Real Estate Development + Urbanism, carrying forward the legacy of the iconic developer and program founding member Tony Goldman of Goldman Properties. Goldman was a pioneer in the revitalization of urban neighborhoods—including South Beach, Wynwood, and Philadelphia’s Old City. His vision of development as "place-making" is embedded in everything the MRED+U program teaches.
